Elementary Students Prepare for NEPT!

This month, our Hello Genius elementary students will proudly participate in the 2025 NEPT National Student English Proficiency Test. This is an important milestone in their language-learning journey and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their growth and progress.

Building Confidence and Skills

Over the past few months, our teachers have been guiding students through engaging lessons and practice activities designed to build all four key skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students have practiced expressing their ideas clearly, answering comprehension questions, and using new vocabulary in creative ways.

Most importantly, they’ve been encouraged to stay curious, take risks, and believe in their own abilities — because learning a language is as much about confidence as it is about grammar!

The NEPT is more than just a test — it’s a chance for students to see how far they’ve come. By participating, they:

  • Gain a sense of achievement and celebrate their hard work.

  • Identify strengths and growth areas to help teachers personalize future learning plans.

  • Practice resilience by tackling a formal assessment in a supportive environment.

Parents can be proud knowing this is not just a measure of academic progress, but a step toward developing well-rounded, confident communicators.

In the days leading up to the test, our focus is on helping students feel calm and prepared. We talk about doing their best, not being afraid of mistakes, and viewing the test as a way to show off what they’ve learned.

At home, parents can support their children by encouraging plenty of rest, healthy meals, and positive affirmations like:

“I am ready.”
“I can do this.”
“I am proud of my effort.”

Partnering With Parents

This year, parents are invited to attend the special seminar, “English Learning Design by Age”, presented by a professor at the Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation. This seminar, held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Main Auditorium of UNIST, will give families valuable insight into the best learning strategies for their child’s age and stage. It’s a wonderful chance to learn how to support language development at home.

Creating a Supportive Environment

Our classrooms have been buzzing with encouragement as students cheer each other on. Teachers have created a safe space where children can ask questions, review key concepts, and build the confidence they need to succeed. The focus is never on perfection but on growth — every step forward is a reason to celebrate.

The Power of Practice

Leading up to the NEPT, students have participated in mock tests and practice games to become familiar with the format. This helps reduce test-day anxiety and allows them to approach the exam with calmness and focus. These activities also reinforce that mistakes are learning opportunities — not something to fear.

Help your child understand the concept of time by saying what time it is during routine activities. Use and explain words like morning, noon, night, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Make a timeline together showing a typical day, with drawings of regular events and the time of day written beneath each one.

We are excited to see our students shine on test day and look forward to celebrating their results, no matter what. Each score is a stepping stone in their English-learning journey, and we’re proud of the dedication and enthusiasm they’ve shown.

Together — parents, teachers, and students — we are building a strong foundation for lifelong language learning.
